Bowling for Pumpkins in Bisbee

It's September! Do you know where you're blogger is?
This of course being a reference to the old "It's 10:00..." we all recall from our local news stations

Now, let's get to that exciting title! Okay, okay, the truth is we didn't bowl for pumpkins in Bisbee.  Admit it though, the title hooked you. It's not all a lie, it simply happened in different stages.
Starting with bowling!

Let's go back, way back to the beginning of September
(because dang it, I don't think I have updated once this month! >.<)

My company hosted a bowling event to raise funds for the
Tucson Chapter of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Dylan, myself and a few more of our friends teamed up to do a
little fundraising and have a good time along the way.

We bowled!

To celebrate, I made a couple of animated GIF files
Dylan, in excellent form. I think his final score was 199 (He is very proud of that 199,
give him a high-five the next time you see him.)

Here he is pickin' up a spare!

And what's bowling without a little bowling alley deep fried goodness?
Served up alongside a tasty pitcher of beer, but of course!

There was some stuff that happened after we went bowling - dinners, seeing friends,
maintenance cleaning around here, laundry. groceries, you know, the same old-same old.
Not a lot of photos, not a lot of great stories to share. Life can't always be the whirlwind non-stop entertainment you see chronicled at the Boswell House okay?! (That was sarcasm, by the way)

This weekend, however; was exciting! Dylan and a few of his buddies decided to have
a dude's weekend. In Bisbee. It may not be a traditional choice for a dude's getaway weekend,
but these dudes bring the good times with them. They had blast! I wasn't there to be a shutterbug,
but Dylan did bring me home some Bisbee goodies!!

That Jack Skellington looking fella isn't just a candle, it's a candle holder designed to look like a candle. His awesome face will never melt away, and I can forever replace the actual candle with tea lights! How rad is that? Followed up by booze and chocolate. What else does a girl need?

Since hubs was away, I was on my own for entertainment this weekend.
I decided to do two things: cook and shop.

To shop I headed over to the Swap Meet with my parents. I had a great time!

Check out my haul:
Movies at the Swap Meet range from $1-$5. How do you not get every single title that looks interesting?! The best part is, my dad and I got to talking about various movies - and both Road to Perdition and Cadillac Records came up in our conversation. I have not seen either of these, but we found them at the Swap Meet so now I can! I loved my dad's advice about Road to Perdition "Now you can see it, and then get rid of it because you'll never want to see it again." Apparently, it is a very sad film. Good, worth seeing, but very sad. Which is what got us talking about other sad movies, and that's when Cadillac Records came up. It's a good thing Dylan's home now, probably best not to watch depressing movies alone.

I found this awesome masterpiece:
Printed in 1996, it's a Where's Waldo style book - but it's Pinky and the Brain!
There's a bunch of different scenarios laid out for you to go seeking different characters

It's basically pages and pages of giant, colorful doodles from some of the creators. It's fantastic!

Go ahead, call me a nerd - I love this book.

You may be wondering: "What did Emily cook? The suspense is killing me!" Wait no longer friends.

While searching through some coupons that came in the mail
last week I found a recipe that looked pretty fun.

The ad came with a couple of coupons to help you complete the ingredients list.
I had most of the bits I needed on hand

I simply followed the recipe, line by line.

I measured and dumped into the saucepan accordingly

Everything mixed together perfectly and started to cook

The recipe states that you should "stir frequently" but I'd consider a constant stir on this, I had to fight sticky bits on the bottom quite a bit. A whisk came in very handy!

After about 15 minutes it started to thicken up, but I let it go the full 20.

I also added a splash of maple syrup, because it just need a little more sweetness. Don't get me wrong though, it is sweet but I think my favorite part is it can do double duty! Sure, it'll make a great dessert - but why not have it star as your lunch? Also, I was thinking some raisins in there would be fantastic! I just don't have any to add. It makes a good amount too, we'll be enjoying this for days!

So there you have it folks. That is how you bowl for pumpkins in Bisbee.
