A Few of our Basic Shenanigans

It's going to be hard to follow up after a vacation recap that took me ... what? 4 weeks to complete? That's a month long vacation recap! One would think I was prepared, knowing that I'd have vacation recap weeks and I could get ahead! Have blog posts at the ready! Make coherent themes! Yeah! That would have been great. But, it's not what I did. However; I did manage to capture some of our basic shenanigans, and there we have the title of my post! So here we go kids, back to the basics at the Boswell House. Come take a look won't you?

Yes! A massive surprise to all of you, I'm sure. We cooked!

My first cooking adventure to share with you all is a very first for us over here at the Boswell House:
Tuna Steaks!

Dylan whipped up an amazing marinade, and no, I didn't write down or keep any kind of track what it was. What I do know, is that once good and marinated, the steaks hit the grill
Oh yeah! Fish steak!!

Peggy was certain that this delicious dinner was being cooked up just for her
Peggy was wrong! [insert evil laugh here]

Next up on our exciting food menu/adventure -
What do you do when you have an abundance of apricots?

A coworker of mine signs up for Bountiful Baskets, and one week was apricot-a-palooza. She gave me a bag to take home and was excited to see what Dylan could make of them.

I'm going to take credit for the idea (I'm an idea woman, what can I say?) I said we should look for a chutney recipe. Of course, we never follow actual recipes, so we researched a few of them and came up with a tasty conglomerate of all of them!

This time I did keep track!
First up, chop your fruit.

We happened to have an apple that had been hanging out just a little too long,
so we figured it'd be a prefect addition to the chutney.

Then, heat up the pan with oil, butter and garlic. Yes that's oil and butter!

We threw everything into the heated pan
  • Apple + Apricots
  • Brown Sugar
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Vanilla Fig Balsamic Vinegar (picked up on vaycay)
  • Turmeric
  • Ginger
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Cinnamon
We let that just cook, slow and low.

In the meantime, we prepped our pork chops to go alongside the tasty chutney

Then it was dinner time!
Everything paired together beautifully! It was fantastic!

So what are some more of our basic shenanigans?
1. Shopping online
2. Photos of the fur-children

Dylan had ordered some of those little window ... flairs for his Scion,
You know, the wings... these things -

Wind Deflectors! That's it!

Alright, so Dylan ordered the wind deflectors and when they
arrived at our doorstep the box was comically large.
Husband, dogs and cat for size reference.

Dylan reaches into the box
....
Right, Sherman?! I thought the same thing!

That's when we decided to have a little fun with Peggy.

Shortly after she proceeded to tip the box over and spaz out like only our little Peggy can

There you have it! Some of our basic, day-to-day shenanigans.
I hope they were at least mildly entertaining. See you guys next time!
