Let me introduce this post by sharing this song:
He's not lying. This is %$@#&*! awesome.
First up a new dress for $8
Not too short, not too warm, and this magical optical illusion that makes me look tall. Me! TALL!
Snazzy new top $5, I like a basic T-shirt with a little something that makes it interesting. In this case a zipper, but wait!
It opens up to a baby blue strip of fabric so now I can wear this shirt 2 different ways. Score.
Now, perhaps you're squeamish about wearing used clothing. There's nothing to be ashamed of, it's not all that unusual. Well fret not, because all the time at thrift stores you find brand new items that made their way to the donation bins. For example I got this brand new shirt that came from Forever 21
Now here's where thrifting gets really exciting. Check out the original price:
$20. Sure it went down to $10 at the store. But my price for that $20 T-shirt? $5. ($4.99 to be precise, because since Goodwill is a nonprofit, you don't pay tax)
Ann Taylor Loft wool pants. They fit perfectly, cost $6. Here's another wonderful thing you get from thrift stores - brand practice. Yes, brand practice (not band practice.) You'll find that there are some brands you're most attracted to, either the aesthetic or the fit. And you'll discover which brands last forever. All at a cost MUCH LOWER than you would pay for them new. That way, when you are ready to drop $40-$80 on a new pair of pants/shirt/suit/what have you - you'll know which brands you trust.
Here's a personal favorite of mine
Already broken in jeans! These go on without a struggle, don't leave angry red marks around your waist, and have already faded from washing - there's no losing that color you bought because you bought them this color already! It's wonderful, trust me.
Side note here, I'm also a giant fan of already busted in shoes because I have giant flat WIDE feet and for someone to have done all the painful parts for me, it's great. Although, most times you'll find the cuter the shoes at the thrift store, the newer they are because someone wore them the one time, cried from pain, then tossed them into the donation pile. So, pre-comfortable shoes are no guarantee, but when you find them, it's nice. Moving on!
I've been wanting a laptop bag for a while and guess what!
$7 for a fancy, super cushy, tons of room Samsonite bag!
Ohh la la, Samsonite!
With a million pockets, more zipper storage in the back and cushy memory foam feeling protection all around. This is a traveling bag, for a traveling blogger ;) eeehhh? I love it!
On this trip we didn't get into the housewares etc. (which we love thrifting for!) But we did find a couple of fun goodies, for example I got this fun key cover for $1
Well there you have it folks. A dress, 2 pairs of pants, a laptop bag, 2 tops and a little bit of crap I didn't need. All for less than $50.
We told you this was #@$&*! awesome!
