It's ... A NEW FLOOR!

Since we last met, a few things have happened!
There was demolition!!
Sayonara laminate flooring! So long broken tiles at the entry way! And goodbye bathroom tile that wasn't as bad, but still see ya' sucker!

Then the crew patched up our old concrete, sealed the cracks then poured and smoothed out a fresh new layer.
Neat Right?
Yes. But it's about to get neater!!
From here, they laid out the patterns with tape ... I think it was tape.
This was a cool step. When Dylan sent me the pics it took my breath away, really gives you a feel for what's to come. But that wasn't what got neater! This is where it gets the neatest!! (In the process anyway)
You have to look closely, but check out the imprints! There's the shapes in the concrete before they get colored! IT LOOKED SO COOL!
Of course, the finished product is the best part. I mean, it's the point of the fancy Price is Right graphic my awesome & talented friend Cyndie made for me ;)

We had a bit of a snag. What we thought would be 4 days, was actually 6. Then on day 6 the colors - they just weren't right. The variation in the main - what are they, squares? Was too blonde, the segue between the kitchen and dining room was missing the variation plus the kitchen nor the bathroom had the dark grout lines we were expecting.
Was it gorgeous? Heck yes. HECK. YES. But it wasn't what we wanted, yet. The company we were working with was on it, entirely accommodating, came out the next day to correct the colors, didn't give us a hard time in the slightest! And all was well! Sure it elongated the process a little more, but elongated time frames + snags go hand in hand with home improvements, that's just the way it is!
(Also keep it to yourself if you liked it better before :-p)

Here's the final product!
That segue is my favorite part!

The living room & entry way:
The bathroom & the office:

After everything cured we were able to release the hounds, I mean pets.
The cats were hilarious when I opened the door, and Baxter didn't even get off the bed until Dylan got home. He was content to stay in the studio apartment. Here's some video of the cats being hilarious, bonus: you get to see more of the floor!

Friends of mine watched (and laughed at) Peggy's jump reaction to the entrance of the kitchen on repeat. Oh, kitties.

We haven't moved back in yet, my first mission was to de-dust the kitchen. We also replaced the filter for the AC and started cleaning some of the walls & vents where the dust-splosion is most evident. So, I got some King of the Hill going on the ol' laptop, threw on an apron and got to work.
I'll do the same tonight.
We'll be back with continued updates!
