Ah, L'amour

Oh February, a month of record high temperatures, exchanges of love and kittens.

Well, okay, so that's not traditionally what February offers up,
but that's how February has been going over here at the Boswell house.

I don't have any real life pictures to represent the record high temperatures, mostly because we've been staying indoors. Although, yesterday I did venture out to water all of the plants because they think it's spring.
Here's what the local news has to say about it:

I can't find the exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure that on Valentine's day we beat the hottest temp on record for the day. All while most of the rest of the country is frozen solid ... weird weather year.

I digress, hot or not - Valentine's Day was on in full swing!
Rather than go out and spend a lot of cash, Dylan and I opted to stay in and make a romantic dinner for two. (Plus, there's that last part - the kitten part, we have a new kitten in the house and we didn't want to bail on everyone while she's getting acclimated, but I'll get back to her in a moment!)

The first step to our luxurious holiday menu was the cake. It came out beautifully!
mmmm mmm! (This is the same flourless almond butter cake we always make!)
We set the cake aside to cool and prepped the rest of our dinner

Bacon hearts!
I found this idea on pinterest (surprise, surprise!) The key is, cut your bacon slice in half
then shape your hearts. Heh. I wish I had taken some pics of the ones I was trying to create
before I read that little snippet of helpful info.

Dylan opted to broil our lobster tails while I prepped the spinach, and then it was time to sit down and enjoy!

It was delicious!! In fact, I'm hungry again just looking at the pictures. After our lovely dinner we worked together to create our little mason jar parfaits.
Step one: cut rounds of cake out using the top of a mason jar
Step two: Whip cream & Melt chocolate
Step 3: Layer with raspberries! (Or any berry, but I LOVE raspberries with chocolate!)

I realize now that if I had cleaned off the tops, those would be much lovelier photos. I think I was more focused on eating them at the time though, you'll have to forgive me.

A night at home with my love, and all of our little fur babies. Including the new one! It was a prefect night.
Our newest addition is a little gem we've decided to call Peggy.
Everyone, Peggy, Peggy - everyone.

We're on day 5 and she's really getting along great. Arnie wasn't super excited about her at first, but she's a brave little kitty. She stayed on him until he broke down and made friends. He's still adjusting, and I can tell he's a little stressed - but he's not hissing at her anymore and he's not hiding off by himself either.
Hang in there buddy, you two will be best friends soon.
There's my kitty <3

We've decided, the more we watch these two interact, that
Arnie and Peggy are real life versions of Nermal and Garfield.

Peggy loved Arnie as soon as she saw him, look, she even wants to hang out in his box.
Something tells me Arnie does not find this as charming as we do ...

Peggy's even starting to warm up to the dogs

For the past two nights, she slept in the bed with us - at our feet right next to Fifi.
I think little Peg fits right in.
