What Time is it?!

A Boswell's favorite time of year. In just a few short days all of the prep, all of the cooking, all of the shopping, all of the decorating, the wrapping, the eating, the unwrapping - all of it! Will finally arrive to the culmination of Christmas Day. I swear, it gets better every year, doesn't it? But of course, in order to soak it all in you have to go out and get festive, right? You start with the prettiest sight to see, the holly that will be on your own front door!
Hee hee, using lyrics to blog is fun.

This year, there is no place more festive at the Boswell House than the bathrooms. Weird, I know. But I kinda like it. The guest bathroom is all red and green with a happy little Santa Claus.

Also of course, Mr. Hankey

The Master Bath was taken over by a festive snowman family

And both bathrooms are adorned with these adorable old-timey looking shower curtain hooks
*happy sigh*

Part of me is pretty sure that the bathrooms got the most decorating simply because the bathroom decor is pretty well cat proof. After all, 2014 is crazy little Peggy's first Christmas ... *gulp*

The rest of the house did start to come together, of course. We decked out our little bar area

Then we set up the rest of the accouterments, trying our best to remain cat-safe, of course.

Garland way up away from feisty little paws ...

And of course this little snowman fella who I just love.

Then, we dared brave the Christmas Tree. A little crazy cat's delight, if you will. We were nervous about this, so much so that we put off even setting up the tree for quite some time.

We decided to forego any garland, as Peggy discovered at Halloween that she loves to destroy such materials. Then, for some added protection, we went ahead and anchored the tree to the wall.
I'm pretty sure this has saved the tree at least once this season. ~whew~

Peggy's pretty excited ... but overall I think she's doing alright. Better than I was anticipating, I have to admit.

Ah, yes. Indeed beginning to look a lot like Christmas. With candy canes and silver lanes aglow!
Don't believe me? Check out the Winterhaven Festival of Lights!

We've got all of the well-illuminated settings:

 The Grinch (of course)
(I know that last one's fuzzy, but I loved how he was inside just about to snatch that Christmas tree!)

There's the clever decorations. Like this fun Starbucks order from Mr. and Mrs. Claus

This house all dressed up like a Christmas present

This fun gnome-filled yard

New this year, was the Leaning Tower of Pizza (heh, heh, get it?)

And a group of people out reciting the lines from A Christmas Carol

Then you've got your pop-culture references
Little Nemo fish-tank house (so cool!)

The Dr!

A fantastic rendition of the lamp from A Christmas Story

Then my favorite house of the night:
This house was fantastic! They had Clark Griswald hanging from the gutters, and the song Mele Kalikimaka was resonating from the front yard. They even had a crazy squirrel on their mailbox. It was great!

Of course, there's also the tried and true Tucson traditions, like the wishing tree

The Winterhaven Zoo

And the cartoon house! I love this set up, they put out chairs and always have cartoons running on a projector

Somehow, I managed to make it on the naughty list this year...

It was a great night over at Winterhaven. We got hot chocolate, enjoyed some tasty hot dogs from a food truck, and stood in the traditional port-a-jon line!

Later on, we conspired, as we drank by the fire to make some Christmas Cookies.

Can you believe it? Here we are, still a few days away from December 25th and we're already up to our eyeballs in all things Christmas. But wait! There's more! We've already celebrated Christmas!! I know, I know, it's hard to conceive. But no, we didn't walk into some crazy time machine (although, that would be pretty neat ...) What we did do, was pack up a Scion and head out to California! We arrived on Friday, and since myself, Dylan, his parents and his step brother were able to all be together, we all celebrated Early Christmas!

We had a delicious Christmas Turkey cooked to perfection on the rotisserie.

I had a beautiful place setting at our family Christmas dinner table
This is where I gorged myself on turkey, stuffing & mashed potatoes with cranberry sauce and gravy, homemade fig wine, green beans and of course - pie. Glorious pie!
That's right! Pecan and apple pies. You bet your bippy I had a slice of each.
We exchanged lovely and heartfelt gifts, and happily waddled up to bed for a good night's sleep.
It's been a great Christmas so far, and the day hasn't even arrived yet! I can't wait to see what comes next!
