"Thanksgiving! That's the day people celebrate with food by eating as much of it as possible."
- Garfield
I had every intention of creating a Thanksgiving prep post. A guide to getting into the spirit, if you will. Because, as you recall, I won't let the rest of Holidays 2014 slip through my fingers!
Seeing as today is November 28th, I clearly did not create a Thanksgiving Prep post in time to prepare anyone for anything. But I'm not giving up that easily, oh no. This post is a recap of preparation. Eh? I know, mind blowing right? One could argue that I am now way ahead of the game for Thanksgiving 2015. So, how does one get into the Thanksgiving spirit? It's pretty simple, celebrate it.
If you're not feeling quite in the spirit or ready for Thanksgiving, your favorite TV characters are sure to remind you the fun that awaits.
There's the cooking:
The frustration/arguing that is inevitable sometimes, but once it's over is downright hilarious
New recipes that may or may not be a hit
Crafts
The chaos that is travel delays trying to get to your Thanksgiving destination
Your first Thanksgiving with your in-laws
Maybe you're a Thanksgiving Football family
Weird traditions with your friends
But everything comes together when it's time to carve that turkey
Everyone gathers together, and for a moment remembers everything they have to be grateful for.
Even if they have to tie up Spike.
In my own personal effort not to let another holiday zip by too quickly, I decided we'd have delicious Thanksgiving fare all week long. On Sunday, it was our own little Thanksgiving feast for 2. (Well, 7, we did give some bits to the dogs and cats)
We had all of the traditional Thanksgiving steps.

And magnificent leftovers!
What else did we enjoy for Thanksgiving week?
Turkey meatballs stuffed with veggies
Fantastic sweet potato and leeks casserole served up with leftover turkey
And of course, enjoyed but never photographed - Green Bean Casserole.
I've still got a pie to bake, but I'm saving that for Sunday. And, as in years past, we have a refrigerator full of leftover turkey, stuffing and gravy from Thanksgiving with the family.
I feel pretty darn grateful, and why shouldn't that extend past one day of the year?
Happy Thanksgiving, even if it won't roll around again for another 365 days.
