_______ Days of Halloween

Listen, I am well aware that it's no secret: I love Halloween.
Fact.
I've been looking forward to it since July! (Like I do every year ...) So, I started watching reruns of my favorite show's Halloween episodes, I reconnected Halloween Radio on my Pandora account, and I started prepping my Halloween costume. I hit pinterest with gusto and had lofty goals of blogging something Halloween-esque every single day in October! (hah! I know, right?) Everything was falling into place beautifully - then October finally started getting closer and ....
I wasn't excited!

It surprised me quite a bit this year, October was just around the corner and I wasn't giddy. In fact, I was already feeling sort of burdened by all of the effort. What?!
Who was this person?! I had to snap out of it. Rather than succumb to my weird lack of Halloween cheer - I forced myself to dive deeper. This was no time for angsty teenage style "meh." Oh no. I was going to make myself get into the spirit of things.

I started with The Munsters, right at the end of September when I was house sitting for my parents and discovered they had this gem on DVD

I felt a little better, a little more festive.
Next in line, a new hairdo (something about this always works with chicks)
I made plans with one of my best girlfriends, the hair-whisperer, Cassandra. We were getting together on October 1st and wanted to watch something Halloweeney that was still kid-friendly. She's got a little one, sure he's only 4 months old but we don't want to traumatize the little fella with zombies or ghost stories!
Perfect!

Cassandra knew exactly what I needed. (She is the hair-whisperer after all!)
Super cute, very "Fall" and dare I say - perfect for that Halloween Spirit.

With a wee-spooky-skip in my step, I teamed up with Hubs to spring the decor out of the attic. This was really fun because something dawned on me: This is Peggy's first Halloween.

Normally, I make a big plan for all of our things - where they're going to go, what sort of diorama play they'll tell any visitors we may have. Not so much this year. In fact, it took me more than a day or two to start digging into the boxes. When the weekend came around I decided to turn to a Halloween classic of mine. Sabrina the Teenage Witch. In fact, there's an entire episode about Sabrina not having the Halloween holiday spirit. It was a perfect fit.
I have always loved the way sitcom homes go way, way overboard when it comes to holiday decorations. Most of the time, that's the whole style I try to mimic! I wasn't hit with overboard inspiration, but it did work enough to peel me off the couch and get me decorating.

Barring in mind that we don't want things Peggy could kill in any areas she could get to and then kill them, we opted for height.
Hello again, giant spiderweb.

~aah~ Halloween mugs

I *almost* forgot how much I love this picture over the mantle, until of course I saw it hanging again. Where's our DVD of the Shining anyway ... I'm feeling spookier already!!

Yes! Yes! Its Boo-tiful
That's when the greatest thing that could have happened to me this year occurred ....
I busted my giant posable skeleton out of his box. These things are way more fun than they get credit for. Every home should have one!

Coincidentally - Dylan was doing some work on my car at the same time Mr. Bones was released from his packaging. How do you not immediately place the skeleton into the drivers seat?

Dylan wants to Photoshop this one to have a different scene outside the window, maybe a city, perhaps a desert road .... I love the idea.

He waved to quite a few neighbors while chilling in the back of the car that day ...

Then I thought about how amusing it would be to see him in the home gym. Skeletons need to work out too, don't they?

I wanted to make it look more like he was actually walking, Dylan stepped in to assist

why is this so hilarious?!

Mr. Bones didn't stand up too well with his legs bent at first ...

Dylan stepped in again
*snort* I love this photo. It's like Bones is offended by the help.

After a brisk walk on the treadmill, he decided to do a little cycling

Mr. Bones stayed staged there on the bike for a few days, we even had a few friends over to show him off to, it was great.

In the meantime, I headed over to Manda's to watch a little Dancing with the Stars and partake in all of her Halloween goodness.
I am loving the caution tape!!

I love this little dude in the shopping cart. Does he remind anyone else of Sumo from Clarence?

Today when I got home, I had a few more ideas for Mr. Bones, I mean, I knew I was blogging anyway! Why not?
Okay, so this one was way better in my mind. He doesn't bend in such a way to make it look like he plays guitars realistically ... so I had to settle for holding it. Skins makes him look pretty rad, and the smoke was courtesy of our pal Jon.
I thought it'd be fun to see Mr. Bones just chilling at home.

A better photo came from behind his head

The best photo came from the back yard

So can I just take him with me everywhere I go this month? That will definitely keep me in the spirit of things!
