Super Sandwiches!

We've started a new tradition over here at the Boswell house, eating while watching anime. Fine, fine, I'll give you that simply eating and watching TV isn't itself much of anything new or exciting. In fact, it's probably expected of a large majority of us. But we've been teaming up with friends of ours, having dinner, enjoying some brews and watching some very interesting animated television. What's not to love?

It all started when we started watching that Attack on Titan show I talked about in my last post. We had our buddy Jon over to enjoy some Chinese take out one evening, and that's when we started watching Titan on a whim. From there, the three of us enjoyed many meals in front of that lovely Netflix glow - but the night we finished the 1st season - we made fancy grilled cheeses!

I actually swiped this recipe, and it's adorable name, from my coworker Cyndie.
Here's how you do it!
Get some tasty, tasty bread!
This lovely loaf came from the Ablertson's just up the road. It's a delicious Pugliese bread from a San Francisco bakery recipe "baked fresh in house daily!" (you know, I never know if they mean those things they claim...) I told myself to remember the name of the bakery, because not only did they have this tasty number, but a bunch of others! There was a rosemary bread, and anther one with whole garlic cloves baked into it. 0_0 We will visit this bread again, friends. And on that day, I will pass along the name!

The key to "fancy" grilled cheese, is a little bit of pre-grilling. (Is it "grilling" when it's stove top?) You make an olive oil + salt + pepper mix
Brush that deliciousness on either side of each slice, and hit the griddle.

After a few minutes, you've got an amazing smelling stack of toasted bread
Then, you follow your usual grilled cheese operations using said amazing smelling toasted bread!

The cheese we chose was munster (mmmmm!) And we whipped up some miso soup to have alongside

Want to know my secret for homemade miso soup? Sprout's Miso Broth.
I can't believe it! There's not an IMAGE of it anywhere on the internet!
It's just a handy carton like you'd get your chicken broth in, it doesn't require any diluting or adding of spices. You just throw in whatever veggies etc. you want to enjoy in your miso! Ours was mushrooms and nori. (Yup. The seaweed nori, nom!!!)

We added a little marinara dipping sauce to jazz it up even further.

Those were good. So good in fact, we decided that we must have more sandwiches!!!
About a week or so later, another of our friends was in from out of town. He brought with him some fancy Texas beers for us to try, and we made a night of it. This time, we decided on some pastrami sandwiches on rye bread (my favorite!!) with sauerkraut.  =D
Here they are prior to hitting the griddle.
That rye bread toasts up nice and dark!! <3

We scrolled through all of the anime options on Netflix trying to find our next adventure, and decided on the Netflix Original Knights of Sidonia. It's not as immediately engaging as Titan, but we're going to give it a shot. Besides, any show is good when accompanied by delicious sandwiches and even tastier beers.

Here was the evening's lineup of beverages:

There was another one, this amazing purple beer I think made from Blackberries. It's a brewery in Texas that bases their brews on what's in season, so, that was the Blackberry batch. It was so purple! And so good!

The next sandwich I want to share with you guys isn't edible, but it's still pretty super. I'll start by explaining that our dresser is now multi-coated with high gloss paint and back in the bedroom bein' a dresser!!

Ain't it great?

Here's how it relates to sandwiches, you see, I saw something on Pinterest. (Shocker, I know!) It was about organization/organizing your closet - etc. If you line your clothes up vertically instead of stacking them horizontally - magic happens.
You open the drawer, and you can see everything! See, fold them up and then sandwich them all in there like breads, meats, cheeses, pickles, etc. See, I told you it was about super sandwiches still! This one's just super sandwiching. The above image is my myriad of tanktops and undershirts. Every woman has this collection, if she says she doesn't - either she's lying or she is missing out!

The sandwich method works even better on T-shirts.

How nice is that!? Dylan says he's pretty dang sure that even more shirts fit this way,
so bonus points for more space!

Alright everybody, go get a sandwich. I'll see you next time!
