A while ago I sat down to jot down a to-do list. Let me just stop and admit to my ultimate nerd quality: I love to-do lists. Now, TBATDL's original intention was to cover things over one weekend.
But when I didn't get to cross everything off that weekend, the list kept growing.
I don't expect you to be able to read a picture of a list written in pencil, so I went ahead and
elaborated, photographically, on everything that's included on TBATDL that way you'll be up to speed.
Numero Uno, one of the projects I'm most looking forward to.
The Dining Room Table
Take a gander at its current state:
There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but the chairs always were a little bit beat up
and we found some new ones in a chance encounter at a thrift store
They're green! A little bit rustic, and a whole lot adorable. So the game plan is to swap out the chairs, duh, but before we do that - spray paint the orange-ish frame a snazzy new black. Then, sand and refinish the table top with a black varnish (not jet black, you know, see-through-ish black) Its going to look sweet!
Moving right along -
The Interior Doors
We want to repaint all of them shiny new white, and when we do, that alone will look like a million bucks.
But I can elaborate a little more with the back of the master bedroom door. Here's how I use it now:
Just your basic hanging hook thing. But! Upon watching a re-run of Big Bang Theory we saw on the back of Leonard's door he uses a hanging coat hook on the back of his door, you know, one of these:
And we decided, wouldn't that just look better? Plus it won't get all bendy and bowed
from the demand I put on the current hook. Also, since I clearly have an abundant amount of
crap hanging on that door, I was thinking that 2 hooks spaced adequately apart will do the trick!
Anyway, that's a before and after I can't wait to post!
Next up
Destroy Dylan's Office
This one - this one's going to be fun. The current state of Dylan's office can be seen here:
I think the phrase "destroy" sums it up. In fact, this is on the agenda for next weekend, so stay tuned!
Now here's part of TBATDL that I actually got to cross off!
Sweet, sweet reorganization.
This scene may look familiar, because we've been here before. I've accepted the fact that
this project in particular will need to repeat, probably once a year. But that's okay! In the end,
it still gets reorganized, and you have a chance to reunite with long lost items. Win win!
Bonus points for this accomplishment? I used my yoga pad to make it a far less painful experience.
Makes a huge difference, believe me!
Also on TBATDL - completing the master bathroom. Stop, wait! Don't jump up and down screaming in excitement yet, it's not done. You can keep smiling though because we did DO something!
The vanity!
AND (Yes! There's an and!)
The sealing of the grout. Happy accident here? There's some white haze on the
tub itself that when this sealant hits it - completely disappears. YES!
I busied myself with the sealant, up and down and over and across and again and again and again.
Dylan sanded the vanity so we could repaint with that lovely "Breakfast Blend" color we've had forever
We sanded, caulked, and repainted the interior too. I can't believe I didn't get a before and after of that but who cares! The before was trashed, the after is "I'll be happy to place my items in here, yay!"
Then it was time to Breakfast Blend it.
3 coats on the vanity and on the door. While we waited for those to dry,
we put parts of the bathroom back together.
Its really almost a bathroom again! I can't wait!! I ran out of daylight to get a good shot of the finished vanity, but I think it'd be an even more powerful "after" photo later when we're ready to - gosh I don't know actually use the master bathroom again! It'll be a great day, that day. I'll be sharing it with all of you! ...
wait. Okay so I'm not going to share USING the bathroom, just that we have one again.
You know what I mean.
See you guys next week, when [hopefully] I have a bunch of pictures to share of Destroying Dylan's Office.
