Day at the Races/Dylan's Birthday

We have another birthday to celebrate, this being one of my personal favorites: HUBS!
Last year, you'll recall our epic journey to Flagstaff. This year called for speed!

Welcome to High Speed Indoor Go-Karting (stole the wording directly from their website.) Sounds like fun doesn't it? Well for some folks, sure. Yours truly? Yeah, she opted to take photos.

Safety first, but of course! They watched a video, were instructed by staff, and then suited up:

Everyone lined up in their go kart and waited for the green light.

Then they were off!

I won't lie to you, taking pictures of this was fun!

There's our birthday fella! White knuckle racing!

The venue was excellent. They tracked each kart so the drivers could all see their stats, the price per racer wasn't cheap but it wasn't outrageous either. Between each race there was a long enough break to settle down and be ready to tackle the next one. Our package included a grand total of 3 races, and those racing noted that the breaks in-between were quite welcomed. Turns out, activities like this really get the blood flowing. The facility itself was impressive as hell! You can see that much from the photos!
Every racer had a fantastic time! Most of them reported some soreness afterword from the intense steering, and a couple got motion sickness like a roller coaster. (See, this is why I told you guys I didn't want to race!)  But for the folks who like white knuckle, sore afterward, upset stomach kinds of adrenaline pumping fun - it was a total winner!

I mentioned in my last post two things:
1. Birthdays should be embraced
2. They also need cake

We didn't want to exclude anyone from festivities, or cut the festivities short. So for Dylan's actual birth-date we had the crew over for some Netflix and Cake
[okay so we watched Kentucky Fried Movie on Amazon Prime, but "Prime and Chill" is not the trendy phrase so I had to insert 'Netflix' to make the "and cake" joke. Sue me.]

I present, with pride, my creation! Dylan's Disc Golf Birthday Cake!

A nice blogger on the internets shared that handy trick with the badminton birdee (birdy?) - removing the rubber part and adding a tooth pic to create the basket. She had used sweet tarts as discs, but I found a bag of multi colored flat candies and felt like I hit the jackpot. Since we play disc golf in the desert, I didn't need any grass. The gravel/dirt is crushed honey roasted peanuts (and that made the cake so tasty!) And since I had so many honey roasted peanuts, I went ahead and used them to garnish the rest of the plate. It was good call, eaters of the cake wanted more peanuts so they could just go in and scoop them up.

I threw some wayward discs around, on purpose, because that's what happens at disc golf. Then I set up chocolate covered peanut candies to look like boulders. The tress were home made (lol) and they looked a lot better in my mind. It's possible a couple of guests had no idea they were supposed to be trees - but hey. We do what we can when making a theme cake.

There we have it, another hat tip to birthdays. The love, the gatherings, the feelings of togetherness, the presents! The cake! All  fine reasons to celebrate.
See you guys next time!
