The Boswell's trip to Springfield

Dylan and I squeezed in a bit of a Summer Vacation this past week!

The trip itself had a few components:
1. We were able to get together with family from Texas and celebrate a birthday!
2. We were in California to say one last good bye to our in-law's house (they're moving back to good ol' Arizona!!)
3. Universal Studios.

How could we not take that trip?!
Now you all know I don't like to give away too much about the youngins or family, so you're not going to get a lot of specifics out of me or photos of the folks mentioned above - but! You're going to see a lot of our trip, including one of my favorite parts:

SPRINGFIELD!

But we're not there just yet.

As you may have guessed from many of mine & Dylan's trip to Cali, we did in fact drive. We love road trips! First stop: gas and road burgers!
Ah, the middle of nowhere! A road trip classic.

Then we went to Carl's Jr. for our road burgers. We've been to this exact Carl's Jr. before, because we remembered the line of Tesla chargers out in the parking lot. But on this trip, the coolest thing happened.
 There was a Tesla charging!!

Pit stop #2 was for coffee and to stretch our legs a bit.
You can bet your bippy Dylan and I are 100% self-acclaimed Pokemon Go! junkies. Of course we walked around to catch some Pokemon! check it out, we found one!
hahha!

Alright, all kidding aside, we made it to the hotel with the fam and enjoyed a delicious sushi dinner while we watched a little bit of the Olympics. The next day was Universal time!!

Here we are in line for the Minon Mayhem ride

We had such a blast! I may have refused to go through the "Walking Dead" exhibit, but the rest of the family had a blast. I like my sister-in-law's description of the attraction best, she said calmly "I ... I couldn't wait for it to be over." I think that about sums it up.
Zombies ain't fun kids.

Do you know what was fun? The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
I rode a very tame roller coaster, and almost lost my lunch - but didn't! So I consider that a personal triumph. Then we rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey - and it was incredible. Best ride in the park! And there was some serious competition, let me tell you.

On our first stop in Springfield, we rode the Simpsons ride and took in some of the sights, then it was off to the lower level to ride more amazing rides!
Isn't that just the cutest restroom you've ever seen in your life?!

One of my favorite parts of this visit to the park was the Universal Studios Behind-the-Scenes Tour. I'm already the kind of geek who loves the magic behind the scenes. You get to see people actually working on shows and big sets and crazy buildings that can be anything from a big city to a tiny town, it's great! But the ride itself really is a ride! They built in all these fun nuggets, take a look
(The set from War of the Worlds)

We even got to see a REAL LIVE DINOSAUR!!!
hee hee.

For dinner, we headed back to Springfield!
Good ol' Lard Lad!

I enjoyed a Flaming Moe:

And we dined at Bumblee Bee Man's Food Truck

We even got to have some ice cold Duff Beer!

ah, Springfield!

The rest of the trip was great, quality time with the fam, pizza, popcorn, movies. A little dining, a little shopping, and a wonderfully fun game called "Bean-Boozled" that we'll be subjecting our friends to in the not too distant future.

Then, we waved goodbye to the hotel and headed back home to the real world!
I suppose though it's all the fun we get to have that make the whole "real world" sorta worth it, right?

Thanks for reading guys, see you next time!
