It's been a strange time over here at the Boswell House.
We had a tough decision to make, that ultimately needed to be made, and while life sort of went on waiting for the day to come - the day came.
The above is my cryptic way of saying that we said goodbye to our sweet old dog Chelsea this weekend. I want to take the time to write her a proper memorial, but I don't have it in me right now. I also don't want to leave the blog just sitting, twisting in the wind. (Did I even use that phrase correctly?) I've taken a couple of photos of some quasi projects we've been up to. I'm going to share those because I have them. I'm sorry I don't have a lot to say about our sweet, old dog today. The words are there, I'm just not in the right state of mind to put it together. Just know, we loved her. It's been tough today and I think it'll continue being tough for another couple of weeks.
Wayward Recap #1 - our comfort, our crutch and our vice:
Sweet, sweet television.
Dylan and I love TV. We love to stream & binge shows, we love to tune into weekly shows, we even love reruns. Well, mostly only I love reruns. Anyway, long story short here: cable subscriptions cost a lot of money. Because of that, we started looking into alternatives. Turns out that Playstation offers a service called Vue for not a whole lot of clams. We've had it for about a month now, and it's not perfect - there's certainly some bugs - but overall our impression is good. At $40 a month for the channels we know and love + DVR options, I have to give it a good recommendation. It does have one flaw though, no local networks. That means the local news, Wheel of Fortune, Dancing with the Stars - all of that fun stuff - doesn't come through our Playstation. Since channels no longer tune in without some sort of digital assistance, we had to get that assistance. Here's how it works:
We purchased and put together one of these here snazzy digital antennas. (Local TV comes in high-def, ooh la la!)
Dylan installed it up on the roof in a location that would not suffer from a lot of interference, and we consulted with a neighbor regarding it's potential to become a lightening rod. According to our research, we should be safe from lightening strikes (whew!)
Here's Dylan hard at work:
That night we grilled up some bell peppers and chicken. It was delicious and the colors are pretty, so I'm going to go ahead and share the photos :)
Wayward Recap #2: A tiny project I've got in my mind that I have yet to start.
One of the awesome birthday presents Dylan received were these killer Portal bookends:
I was thinking we should take these books that I just keep stacking on top of other books:
Move them up above the bookshelf:
And use the bookends to get the job done!
I haven't actually done this yet. Maybe, someday, I'll get around to completing the brilliant idea.
As for me, tonight, I've got a rather stressed out Sherman crawling on me that I need to try and help soothe. Painful thing about being a dog mom, you tend to outlive your kids.
See you guys next time!
