Party Pumpkins

Spring & Summer: warm and sunny seasons filled with merriment and wonder. There's plants in bloom, triple digit heat, swimming pools, sun shades - the list goes on. With so many wonderful seasonal pleasures to celebrate - why on earth would you rush yourself into fall?

Because, PUMPKINS! That's why!

The origin of "PUMPKINS!" is a fun tale, a night out with friends, a giant screen playing a movie with no sound, but the subtitles were running. We were so close to the screen that we could only read a few key words and "pumpkins" kept coming up in the conversation between the actors. It was rather humorous at the time, and as many an inside joke with your friends does, "PUMPKINS!" continued on in our normal conversations. That's when we decided to throw a party.

Akin to the big "Christmas in July!" sales you see at car lots and retail outlets, we brought PUMPKINS to the front of the year. Party planning was fun, finding menu items that incorporate pumpkins but also fit into the summer feel of things. We found a pumpkin BBQ sauce that was just amazing, an attendee brought some mini individual pumpkin pies, and we created a signature pumpkin cocktail that was cool and refreshing.

Did you know that you can score pumpkin beer all year long? We didn't either, but we were thrilled!
Our Signature Cocktail: The White Pumpkin
Mix pumpkin pie liqueur, half and half, pumpkin pie vodka, and just a splash of Jack Daniels Fire, and you have yourself a fantastic little concoction.

Check out the delicious PUMPKIN food spread!!
That's delicious pumpkin-pie-spice-rubbed ribs, with that amazing BBQ sauce. The mini pies, and some pumpkin muffins off to the right there. Here, take a couple closer looks:

We also whipped up some delicious PUMPKIN deviled eggs, except they omit the pumpkin flavor in exchange for the pumpkin look. These babies required the use of sriracha mayo. You heard me.
So. Freaking. Good.

Now, if you're throwing a PUMPKINS! party, you really need to sell it. You have to play up the PUMPKINS! angle. To do this, we opted for a Green and Orange theme. More like a pumpkin patch than the black and orange Halloween-scene. We even encouraged attendees to dawn their best Orange & Green to celebrate PUMPKINS! in style.

No disrespect to Halloween of course, we had guests create these cute little DIY Jack-O-Lanterns to pay homage to the joy and wonder that is HALLOWEEN! - uh, I mean PUMPKINS!

We had party games, streamers, good food, and great company. What else can you ask for in a party?
I'm going to call this one a ... uh .... huh. I can't come up with any PUMPKIN! puns to make silly jokes with . . . Roaring Orange Success? Gosh. That's just lame. But, I'll have to take what my brain will give me.

That's all folks, see you next time, and don't forget to celebrate the PUMPKINS!
