The Groundhog was Wrong.

Weather in Tucson is a fickle thing. Just over a week ago, it felt like winter. It was cold and gray and raining. Raining so much in fact, that we broke some rainfall records.
Don't believe me? I have sources. Check out this Arizona Daily Star article

If you're still not convinced, take a gander at the almanac. It was a 3 day super-soaker!

We dared ventured out that Friday for a movie with friends, and every single one of us was drenched. So on Saturday, when it was still raining Dylan was kind enough to make a Starbucks run that morning, and then we stayed in. The rain just kept falling.

I made a very important decision that day - this outfit:
Layers = Love.

It's a Saturday, and you're facing a grim, cold, gray, rainy day. What do you do?
  1. Have copious amounts of coffee.
  2. Set Roseanne (or show of your choosing) to play on loop via Netflix
  3. Clean up (because, why not? What else were you going to do today?)
So, I cleaned up the joint.

Sherman and Fifi knew how to handle the day

And Dylan whipped us up a couple of epic sandwiches

The weather just kept coming.

Just in time for the Super Bowl, the weather cleared up enough to have some friends over and enjoy the game. Peggy was in charge of the chip supply

I was in charge of the Queso

and our friends made delicious ranch dip.

We feasted like kings! Chips for dinner!!!

Chelsea knew how to work that cute

Especially if it earned her a couple of snacks

Peggy preferred to watch the game in the bedroom

So how was the weather? It was still pretty cool, hardly drying off , and Punxsutawney Phil was gearing up to give us his weather forecast. That's right woodchuck-chuckers, it's Groundhog Day!
Groundhog Day is a special holiday for myself and my dear friend Manda. We are huge fans of the film. We trade lines from this movie back and forth all year long, every year of our lives. It may not be as exciting as some other holidays we enjoy, but there is certainly a special place in our hearts for Groundhog Day.
I really want to watch it again now...

6 more weeks of winter, right?

Not ... exactly. At least, not if you live in Tucson.
Here we are, a week later, and we're breaking heat records.

Adding insult to injury, it's actually the same storm system that's freezing most of the rest of the country fueling this heatwave in the southwest.
I can tell you this definitively, 2015 sure is starting off as a heck of a weather year.
I guess we'll see what records we break next ...
See you then!
