I Can Hardly Believe

We cleaned the garage!!!

This is what I like to call "procrastination at its best" you see- the plan was to do the shower. But instead of blowing that off to do nothing, we blew it off to accomplish something else that really needed accomplishing. Hm. Maybe we should do the shower last ...

Anyway, come take a look!

First thing's first, take a moment to savor and enjoy what our view was upon opening the door to the garage:

Time and time again, out that door to do the laundry or throw anything away (we keep the garbage and recycling in their, viola, no dogs rummaging through the trash) AND! This was when I remembered to start taking pictures, after I had already moved some of the xmas decor into the kitchen.

Hi Fifi!

I figured since all of this needed to go back up into the attic, it just had to get it the hell out of the way while we took care of everything else. Moving on!

Now, the rest of the horrors we were facing:

Christmas AND Halloween decorations that need to go up into the attic
Paint ... and crap...
Here we had lots of wasted space, and random items. Note the table and the push broom...

MORE CRAP! : D

Tools Etc.

More paint! (Of the spray variety)

And here we have all of the items we actually use on a day to day basis. Rags for cleaning, TP, cleaning supplies, some appliances we reach for frequently and so on. All together, living in disarray.

I swear, as I was taking pictures Sherman acted like a tour guide "and now we have this giant pile of crap ..."

I can't even remember how or where we started, but that doesn't matter.
The good news is that we actually started!

Isn't it wondrous?!

Check out the view from the garage door!

We put up that new little white shelf, and hung the old shelf (there's another one that goes on top of it, but we need new ... you know ... some building term for the things that hold the shelves ... ....)

Those rolls of carpet are leftovers from the bedroom, Dylan thinks its wise to hang onto them. I'll agree that day they come in handy ... in the meantime, they went up into the attic.

~aaaah~ (sigh of relief)
We put that big shelf back where it always lived, restocked it by using the "like with like" mentality. We've got car stuff, collectibles, camping equipment and so on. Then we moved our old wood desk into that corner. Looks really great all empty over there! But .. that didn't last long. (sorry!)

How do you like that?!?! Wide open spaces :)

So ... how do you combat all of that clutter?

Make more clutter ^_^

We took all that paint and stored it underneath the once nice empty wood desk, then we sort of shoved anything else we hadn't organized onto it ... ... so ... we'll call it a work in progress.

Then there's everything we were just too exhausted to face:
ALL THE TOOLS.
Sure it's not perfect, but it's a serious improvement! I'm patting myself on the back and calling this one a win! Besides, just because the garage looked a million times better - doesn't mean we were done being productive (I know, I'm shocked!) When we went up into the attic to load it up with decorations and carpet remnants we took it all a step further: We cleaned out the attic.

See one of the reasons for this productive procrastination was the fact that Brush and Bulky is coming! So, lots of the stuff we cleared out from the garage went out to the curb - never to be seen again!

Lots of what we pulled from the garage, the carpet that was up in the attic that Dylan had hung onto from the old carpet that's long since been removed, old rugs (one of which was poached) We also had some cables, a mirror and a lamp out there - all were also poached. Then there was all the brush, we didn't make that brush fresh. It had been hanging out waiting for B&B - all we had to do was drag it out.

What do you do after a long hard day cleaning out garages, attics and back yards?

                                      YOU EAT!

You guys remember our leftover mushroom past right? Dylan kept his promise on how to use them, chicken, prosciutto, mushrooms and cheese!

Pretty neat, huh? And delicious too!

Now ... let's see what (if anything ...) we can accomplish this weekend!
